About Us
We believe that seaweed has an important role to play in mitigating the effects of climate change. That’s why we’re doing all we can to discover innovative ways to cultivate it and harness its positive effects:
CREATING SEAWEED FARMS
At GreenSea Solutions, we want to show that cultivation is key to the development of a sustainable seaweed farming industry in the UK. As the wonderful benefits of seaweed continue to be realised, we must make the shift away from wild harvesting towards seaweed cultivated on lines.

DEVELOPING A THRIVING NEW ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY INDUSTRY
Our seaweed farms are good for local business, and good for the local environment.

DRIVING POSITIVE CHANGE
We’re also working with leading scientific institutes and organisations to design and develop seaweed-based products and materials that can lead the way in environmental sustainability.
Protecting the Environment
Our seaweed farms will greatly benefit nearby areas and ecosystems. The remarkable natural ability of seaweed to clean the surrounding waters includes the absorption of nitrates from agricultural run-off, as well as waste produced by nearby fish farms.
And because it also provides protection from coastal erosion, the seaweed we grow will both safeguard our Scottish coastlines and clean our waters.

Promoting Sustainability
Macroalgae is twenty times more effective at sequestering carbon from the ocean as any land-based plant is from our atmosphere. By cultivating seaweed on lines, we hope to lead the way in creating a British industry that is comparatively more sustainable than terrestrial agriculture.
And alongside this, we are working with leading scientific institutes and organisations, to design and develop seaweed-based products and materials that can lead the way in environmental sustainability.
